The Characteristics of Sativa Genetics Originating from equatorial regions close to the equator (such as Thailand, Colombia, and Mexico), sativa varieties evolved under long, warm days and consistent tropical sunlight. This evolutionary history results in plants that grow tall, stretch significantly during the flowering phase, and feature complex terpene profiles dominated by sharp citrus, pine, and sweet fruit notes. They are a favorite among experienced cultivators who appreciate a hands-on training challenge and heavy-hitting final rewards. Frequently Asked Questions How tall do sativa plants typically grow? Pure sativas and sativa-dominant hybrids can grow quite tall (often exceeding 6 feet or more), especially when grown outdoors with plenty of root space and direct sunlight. Are sativa seeds harder to grow than indicas? Sativas generally require a bit more vertical headroom and patience due to their longer flowering windows, but they respond exceptionally well to training methods like ScrOG (Screen of Green) or topping indoors.
